Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke was a satellite campus of the Ibadan Polytechnic sited in the home of the late Chief Bola Ige.
The College which became autonomous as Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke in 1992 was established with the Osun State Law No. 6 of 1992, signed by the first Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, the late Alhaji lsiaka Adetunji Adeleke on 12th October, 1992.
The College is located i n O b o k u n Local Government area of Osun State and occupies a total area of about 267.8 hectares of land. It is accessible from llesa through Ijebu-Jesa, and also from Osogbo - the state capital - via Ibokun.
The College is also accessible from Oke-lmesi in Ekiti State and from Kwara State through lla-Orangun in Osun State and from Akure in Ondo State through lloko-ljesa and ljebu-ljesa.
The institution started operation in January 1993 with the assumption of the first Rector, the late Prof. Olu Odeyemi. As at today, the College has had four other Rectors namely Prof. S. Iyi Ojo, Engr. M. A. F. Esho, Engr. Dr. Augustus Oluyemi Oke and Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke. The sixth and current Rector is Mr. S. A. Adewumi.
Academic activities started in the College in 1993 with only the Faculty of Management Sciences which comprised Department of Banking and Finance and Financial Studies. Subsequently, more programmes were added to make the courses in the College sixteen (16) with four (4) faculties till January 2019. As at then, the faculties and courses available in the College were Faculties of Management and Business Studies, Pure and Applied Sciences, Engineering and Environmental Studies with the following Departments at ND and HND levels. At ND levels, were Banking and Finance, Accountancy, Business Administration and Management, Surveying and Geo-informatics, Quantity Surveying, Urban and Regional Planning, Architectural Technology, Building Technology, Estate Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science and Statistics
The following were available options at HND levels for Science Laboratory Technology, Physics with Electronics, Applied Chemistry and Microbiology. However, in 2019 after the visit of the accreditation team from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Kaduna, eleven new programmes were approved for the College at ND level. These are Photographic Technology, Multi-media Technology, Office Technology and Management, Computer Engineering, Taxation, Marketing, Arts and Design, Agricultural Technology and Library Information Science. The approved HND options in SLT were Environmental Biology and Biochemistry. This necessitated the creation of the fifth faculty, the Faculty of Communication and Information Technology.
The College is the second polytechnic in Nigeria offering Environmental Biology. Apart from the aforementioned programmes, the College also has some short courses anchored through her life empowerment centre in Osogbo through the Open Distance Flexible e-Learning scheme. (ODFEL).
Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke has been able to sign collaborative agreement with some institutions at home and abroad in order to create opportunities for further studies for her graduates who may wish to pursue post-graduate and conversion programmes from HND to BSc. in any university and for academic staff training and exchange. Presently, the College has signed collaborative agreement with the following institutions:

5. Federal University, Oye-Ekiti
6. Federal University of Technology, Akure
Osun State College of Technology is fast becoming a recognized technological institution in line with the Vision and Mission of her founding fathers. The Osun State government recently handed over the Bola Ige Mechatronics Institute of Engineering to the College to further boost her Mechatronics Engineering programme.
OSCOTECH, EsaOke is the second in Nigeria and fifth in Africa to run Mechatronics Engineering programme. The College has successfully designed, constructed, installed, commissioned and sold to the public some inventions like chalk-moulding machines, automatic street lights, mobile hawking fridge, egg incubator, palm kernel shredding machine, aluminum pots and grass slasher while a lot of other inventions are still ongoing.
The Philosophy of the College
The philosophy of the College is reflected in the motto which is "Technology for Sustainable Development". This is being pursued vigorously through the provision of relevant courses reinforced with vocational skills acquisition in areas of critical needs for national development.
